Dallas Daily — Monday, October 19, 2026: Cowboys Fall 23-13 at Packers, Early Voting Begins Today, State Fair Wraps 140th Season
Packers Hand Cowboys a 23-13 Sunday Night Loss in Green Bay
The Cowboys dropped their third straight in a 23-13 Sunday Night Football loss to the Packers at Lambeau Field, falling to 2-4 on the season. Dallas trailed 17-0 at halftime after Dak Prescott threw two interceptions — both leading to Green Bay points — and the Cowboys never got closer than 10 the rest of the night. Jordan Love accounted for both first-half touchdowns (a 9-yard strike to Matthew Golden and a 1-yard sneak), Matthew Golden finished with six catches for 104 yards, and Trey Smack hit three field goals. Prescott finished 34-of-54 for 258 yards with one touchdown — a 6-yard strike to Ryan Flournoy with 44 seconds left — but the offense couldn't finish drives all night. KaVontae Turpin (ribs) left early and didn't return, adding to a banged-up roster. The Cowboys stay on the road for a Monday Night Football showdown at Philadelphia on Oct. 26; the 4-2 Packers have won three straight and head to Detroit.
Early Voting Begins Today Across North Texas
Today is the first day of early voting in Texas' Nov. 3 midterm election. Polls are open Oct. 19–30; in Dallas County, early-voting sites run 7 AM–7 PM Monday–Saturday, and 12–6 PM Sunday, Oct. 25. Registered voters may vote at any early-voting location in their county of registration. The statewide ballot features the U.S. Senate race between Republican Ken Paxton and State Rep. James Talarico, plus Gov. Greg Abbott against Democrat Gina Hinojosa for governor — along with congressional, legislative, judicial, and local races. Bring an accepted photo ID (Texas driver's license, passport, military ID, and others qualify). Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, with polls open statewide 7 AM–7 PM.
State Fair of Texas Wraps Its 140th Season
Big Tex said “Howdy, folks!” for the last time of 2026 on Sunday as the State Fair of Texas wrapped its 24-day, 140th-anniversary season at Fair Park. Nearly 2.1 million fairgoers came through the gates this year, and the fair raised more than $2.7 million for Texas students through the Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction and scholarship programs — including a record $227,000 grand champion steer. The 2026 Big Tex Choice Award winners took their final victory laps: Burger Chop Tater Tacos (Best Taste, Savory) and Fletcher's Chocolate Corny Dog (Best Taste, Sweet). The Midway goes dark until next fall.
Dallas Expands Camera-Assisted Code Checks as Repair Grants Stay Paused
Dallas is expanding camera-assisted property inspections while a city grant program meant to help homeowners afford code-required repairs remains on hold. AI-equipped cameras mounted on city trash trucks identified more than 20,000 potential code violations in recent months, with about 3,700 notices sent to homeowners — but the Dallas Tomorrow Fund, which once awarded up to $20,000 per qualifying homeowner, hasn't awarded a grant since 2024. A City Council member is calling for assistance and stronger oversight so enforcement doesn't burden residents who can't afford the work.
A Dry, Warming Week Ahead
The first true fall weekend gave way to sunshine, and the forecast calls for more of it — with warmer air on the way. Today's high hits about 77°F with no rain in sight, Tuesday climbs near 80°F, and the second half of the week pushes into the low-to-mid 80s, with a few spots possibly reaching 85–86°F. Morning lows start cool in the 40s–50s, and the air stays extremely dry.
