Dallas, TX — Jerry Jones moved defensive coordinator Christian Parker to the coaching booth as the 2–3 Cowboys chase defensive help ahead of Sunday's Packers game, the Stars dropped a 3–2 thriller to the Avalanche at home Tuesday night, Grand Prairie ISD canceled its high school production of "Little Shop of Horrors" over Texas' drag-ban law, and North Texas gets one last blast of 90s heat today before a cold front finally brings fall this weekend.

Cowboys Send DC Parker to the Booth, Eye Trade Help Before Packers Game

The Cowboys' defensive overhaul continued Tuesday, with owner Jerry Jones announcing on 105.3 The Fan that first-year defensive coordinator Christian Parker will call the defense from the coaching booth instead of the sideline — the same move the team tried with Matt Eberflus late last season. The shake-up comes one day after Dallas hired veteran Mike Pettine as senior defensive assistant. Meanwhile, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Cowboys have made trade inquiries about Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr., and the team made a triple roster move Tuesday — signing RB Emari Demercado, adding G Nick Leverett to the practice squad, and releasing CB Alex Austin. Dallas sits at 2–3 with a defense that has yet to record an interception, and a Week 6 home showdown with the Green Bay Packers arrives Sunday.

Stars Drop 3–2 Heartbreaker to Avalanche at Home

The Dallas Stars fell 3–2 to the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night in a playoff-feel matchup at American Airlines Center. Martin Necas scored twice for Colorado, while Tyler Seguin scored for the second straight game and added an assist, Roope Hintz pulled the Stars within one in the third period, and Jake Oettinger made 22 saves in the losing effort. The Central Division rivals won't have to wait long for revenge — the home-and-home set continues Wednesday night in Denver.

Grand Prairie ISD Cancels "Little Shop of Horrors" Over Casting, Cites Texas Drag-Ban Law

Grand Prairie ISD canceled a high school production of "Little Shop of Horrors" after a female student won the lead male role, district officials citing concerns under Texas' drag-ban law. The decision drew coverage from FOX 4, the Dallas Morning News, and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, with the student saying she lost the role over the district's concerns. The move adds another North Texas chapter to the ongoing legal fight over the state's law restricting performances in drag.

Last of the 90s: Cold Front Arrives Thursday Night, Fall Weekend Ahead

Savor one more scorcher, North Texas. Wednesday brings another hot, muggy day with highs in the low 90s feeling close to 100, plus a 20% chance of isolated storms south and east of the Metroplex. Thursday starts warm and dry, but a strong cold front pushes through late Thursday into the evening, bringing the week's best rain chance Thursday night. Then finally — fall. Weekend mornings start in the low 50s with cool, sunny afternoons.
